Unifiying Facebook and appealing to the next generation.

In 2021, I joined an internal Facebook initiative to reimagine the Facebook design language and its corresponding product design system. The goal was twofold: modernize the platform to compete with newer competitors like TikTok, and create a truly unified design system that would unify the App and drive operational efficiencies at scale. I led visual design for this program, internally named Blueprint — marshaling a team of product designers, system designers, art directors and iconographers through a full reimagining of the visual presentation of the app, its components, iconography, colors, motion behaviors and more. With a robust team of cross-functional team members, I led internal workshops to vet decisions against the breadth of Facebook's product suite, built out testing and implementation plans with product management leadership, and conducted ongoing user research to validate our assumptions and generate additional inputs for iteration. Changes to the App began to ship in 2022, with a full roadmap deploying on a rolling basis over the coming years.
